Dear Parents / Carers
We hope you and your families are all keeping safe and well. We are very pleased that nursery has been fully reopened for over a month now! We wanted to write to you as the Governors of South Acton Nursery School and Children’s Centre, to thank all the children and families for their efforts during lockdown and more recently in supporting this wonderful Centre back into full service.
As a Governing body we have statutory responsibility for Safeguarding, and Health and Safety of the Centre, so as the UK is entering a second wave of the Covid pandemic, we need to reiterate the importance of us all continuing to work together to ensure the safety of all our children, families and staff.
Please do not bring your child to nursery if they or anyone else in their household have one or more of the Covid symptoms (listed below), or have tested positive for Covid:
- A high temperature (above 37.5c)
- A new continuous cough
- A new loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
Your child should also not attend nursery if they are unwell with other symptoms, eg. sickness or diarrhea. This is especially important at the moment due to children and staff being in ‘bubbles’. Staff and children cannot move between bubbles, so without alternative cover for unwell staff members, a whole ‘bubble’ may have to close.
We really do understand how frustrating and inconvenient it is when your child is sent home from Nursery, but we have to adhere to the guidelines outlined above without exception. All our nursery policies, and any adaptations in the nursery made under the government guidance, aim to prioritise everyone’s safety and health and keep all our bubbles running. If your child is sent home please do not take your frustration out on our staff who are all trying to do their very best in what are difficult and concerning circumstances for us all.
We thank you for your patience and understanding, and are sure you will join us in recognizing the amazing resilience and resourcefulness of the Head and all staff in their efforts to keep our services going throughout the Covid crisis.
Thank you for your continuing support
Chair of Governors South Acton Children’s Centre
