Extended Day
South Acton Children’s Centre caters for working parents, parents at college and parents who need support. We have breakfast and lunch and an after school club provision. During school holidays there is also the option of Playscheme. We have a healthy eating policy and lunch pack ideas are provided.
Special Needs
South Acton Children’s Centre also caters for the diverse needs of children who have Special Educational needs. We have experienced staff on both the Under 3’s and Over 3’s; extra support staff and provisions are put in place. We have a Speech therapist and an occupational therapist attached to the centre.
Family Learning
The family learning sessions are ongoing with keyworkers working with their children and parents. The sessions cover different aspects of the Foundation Stage Curriculum.
Staff Induction/Students
All new staff, students and visitors wile have an induction session whereby they are shown around the centre, and all relevant information is given. There are many teaching students each year as well as NVQ2, NVQ3 and equivalent qualifications.
Nursery The nursery has 60am places and 60pm places.

This is the core offer 3 hrs free per day. In addition to this we offer some extended places for working families, those whose parents are studying, special needs and social needs. Children start in the nursery as soon after their 3rd birthday as a space becomes available and normally leave in the summer term unless their 4th birthday is after the 31st August, in which case they spend another year in the nursery.There is a waiting list for the nursery and children normally come in for an open day, and have a home visit before they start. The nursery follows the foundation stage curriculum which covers 6 areas.1. Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSE) (Relationships)2. Communication, Language & Literacy (CLL) (reading, spelling, writing)3. Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy (PRN) (Maths)4. Knowledge & Understanding of the World (K&U) (Science, Geography, ICT)5. Physical Development (Fine/gross motor)6. Creative Development (art, music, dance etc) This continues into reception with Early Learning Goals at the end! There are four overall principles for birth to five year olds these are, 1. A unique child (all about the child).2. Positive Relationships (all about those who have contact with child).3. Enabling Environments (the learning environment home/school)4. Learning & Development (how they learn) The nursery is well staffed with a core team and also EMA Team, Special needs and I CAN. More information about each in another section.
